I'm sure that many people have heard about all the buzz about the UFO sightings in the skies over Stephenville, Texas.  I caught myself looking up trying to see if I might catch a glimpse of anything unusal, but the only thing I got was a "splat" of a rain drop, so I guess if anything is traveling about out there above the clouds, at least they are dry.
For those of you who may have been more successful than I was in capturing some unidentified object in the sky, you can visit the National UFO Reporting Center at http://www.nuforc.org/ and log your sighting.  Of course curiousity got the best of me and I spent some time checking out the reports. Betcha didn't know that on Jan. 9 a spinning twin cylinder object was spotted in the sky over Livermore and on Jan.

Great in '08

New Years 2008
Happy New Year! Okay, okay so I’m a week late, but the wish is sincere and to steal a toast from my daughter, here’s to ‘Great in ’08!’

I’m sure there are many of you who have made resolutions, but as for me, I really try to stay away from that word.  After all, break it down, it’s re-solutions, doesn’t that imply something needing a solution and mostly doesn’t that point to a problem.  Well, I really don’t like looking at myself and my life as problematic (which some that know me call ignorance, denial or downright delusional, however I prefer optimistic) so I don’t like to think I need solutions.  Instead, I set GOALS, things to ‘GO After Longingly,’ longlingly being the opportune word here. I really do want a lot of things, but for me it’s all about the things I long for …

Who's in the giving spirit ...

Money
With the presidential election looming large in 2008, do you ever find yourself wondering who is giving who money.  Do you have a neighbor or a friend who is steadfast in their conviction to Hillary or one who is sure that Rudy's the man.
Well, if your wondering if they have contributed to their choice, check out http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/index.asp. The Center for Responsive Politics offers a database where you can check out campaign contributions of over $200.  Use the donor lookup and see if those neighbors or friends of yours are putting their money where their mouth is when it comes to their

Learn How To ...

I decided to embark on a new adventure so instead of carving all the pumpkins I bought I thought I’d venture into cooking one.  First I picked the one with the least amount of defects and the most uniform in color, somehow that made me think that no matter what it tasted like it would look great.  Now what?  Well I headed off to a site on the web which I have turned to many times to explore the how to’s in my life.  It’s http://www.ehow.com.  Here you can learn how to avoid things, buy things, build things, do things, get things and even get rid of things.  The site even has a listing of the top 10 eHows and when I went to check on cooking my pumpkin, the number one on the top 10 was how to make pizza dough.  Sounded good, and then my eyes scrolled down a bit and there at number four was how to do an abdominal crunch, well that cancelled out number one for me, so back to my cooked pumpkin. Sure enough I found it, a how to on cooking a whole pumpkin.  I was disappointed to see I still had to do all the work, clean it, cut it and then cook it. So decided it would make the perfect Jack-o-lantern.  Take a look at eHow and learn how to do just about anything.  I’m taking a closer look at making pizza dough.

Seeking anything unclaimed I might've missed ...

The Modesto Bee ran a story today in the Work & Money section on Page D-3 all about seeking any unclaimed money you might be owed.  What the heck, I'm not above seeing what I might have missed, so I tried the Missingmoney.com site to check it out.  Well, California isn't included on their site which only made me more anxious and almost sure I have money sitting somewhere just waiting for me to ask for it.  So off I went to the California State Controller's office site.  They also have a place for California residents to check and see if anyone is holding money on their behalf.  The web address is http://scoweb.sco.ca.gov/UCP/.

I excitedly typed in my name, and WOW, I actually do have money owed to me.  Looks like I forgot to collect the last of my dollars from an old credit union account.

Check it out who knows, maybe you also have money coming. I have to go now, I'm busy completing the required info in order to collect my $3.84...  Good Luck searching for dollars!
