Turlock Community Scores with Stadium Redevelopment
Submitted by truthseekers on Fri, 2009-11-20 06:51.The collaborative effort between the Turlock City Council, acting as the Redevelopment Agency, and the Turlock Unified School District to renovate Joe Debely Stadium is a visionary project, a project which will provide an opportunity for two public agencies to work together for the benefit of our entire community in a number of ways which neither agency could currently achieve alone.
The proposed project will rebuild the woefully inadequate stadium that serves both of Turlock's high schools' student bodies and the whole community. One benefit of turfing the field and installing an all-weather track will be increased usability and availability of the stadium venue to better serve both Turlock high schools and the city's residents. The new track and turfed field stadium can accommodate numerous important community events, such as the American Cancer Society's annual Relay for Life.

Nevada gov takes control of state's stimulus funds
Submitted by BikeRackII on Fri, 2009-08-14 10:10.We have often heard money is the root of all evil. More and more, I'm seeing the truth in that. Now our leadership that is charged with the responsibility to serve we the people are fighting over the cash. People that don't even have ownership over the money, are fighting for the green stuff that rightly belongs to you and I.
Do we live in a great Country or what? These Dudley do rights couldn't get along to help us, if their life depended on it. I sure hope the citizens of Nevada don't mind giving their money to attorneys. 50 of them are knocking on the door right now to get in on this free ride.
Education plus a lack of commonsense = Village Idiot.

President Obama says it like it is
Submitted by BikeRack on Tue, 2009-08-11 10:39.Rarely have I heard him say much about the Federal Government mess he inherited. Like his policy proposals or not, he does work in the solution every day.
_______________________________________________________________
OBAMA: So, now, you got folks on the other side of the aisle pointing at the federal budget and somehow trying to put that at our feet. Well, let's look at the history. When I walked in, we had a $1.3 trillion deficit. That was gift-wrapped and waiting for me when I walked in the Oval Office. Without my policies, we'd have an even higher deficit going forward. The one exception is the recovery package that we had to do in order to get this economy moving again.
So you can't go out there and charge up the credit card, go on a -- all kinds of things -- shopping sprees on things that didn't grow the economy, hand over the bill to us, and say -- then say, "Why haven't you paid it off yet?" I got that bill from you.
MID Throws a Shadow on Local Solar Power Projects..They Deny Del Monte Foods and Racor's Request!
Submitted by truthseekers on Thu, 2009-07-16 08:54.MID seems mired in the past when the MID Board on a vote of 3-2 turned down Del Monte Foods and Racor request fit participate in MID"s rebate program. The disagreement is centered around MID's insistance that companies purchase rather than lease the solar equiptment.
These two companies offered to contractually re-assure MID about their concerns but after Del Monte Foods and Racor were subjected to the MID staff lawyers derision, the MID Board voted it down.
One of the many questions I have is why hasn't the Bee written about this important "green" decision. Local companies seeking to help the environment should be encouraged not discouraged.
Directors Cecil Hensley and John Kidd along with Board Chairman Tom Van Groningen voted against extending talks with Del Monte Foods and Racor under their requested terms.
Directors Mike Serpa and Paul Warda were the two Directors attempting to diversify the MID position.
Gerrad Marsh Exposes a Dirty Little Secret Most Modestans Don't Know
Submitted by truthseekers on Wed, 2009-07-08 11:34.Gerrad Marsh exposed the developers "Dirty Little secret" last night. That after a negative vote by the public that the Council doesn't get a chance to weigh in before the Community Economic Development Department(CEDD)receives applications from developers.
We need to review Measure "M" and change it to allow Citizens to determine the future of Modesto and not special interests.
He pointed out that Fairview and the area along Pelandale were developed after a negative vote by the people of Modesto.
I would like to thank Gerrad Marsh for informing the people of Modesto of our Dirty Little Secret. Developers have had their way long enough in Modesto and it's time the citizens were heard.!
Sacramento utility quits multiagency power line effort..MID Wants to Raise Our Rates!
Submitted by truthseekers on Thu, 2009-07-02 04:55.Sacramento's energy provider has decided to pull out of a plan to join forces with other municipal power providers to build a $1.5 billion high- voltage power line from Lassen County to Turlock and the Bay Area.
"We feel the overall project isn't strong enough to justify spending additional money on scoping and planning," said Elisabeth Brinton, a Sacramento Municipal Utility District spokeswoman.
SMUD has spent $2 million of the $13 million it was expecting to spend investigating the project.
SMUD's withdrawal leaves a gaping hole in the project's budget. As the largest player, the publicly owned utility was expected to pay for 35 percent of the project's cost.
