The print media often claims that its purpose is to provide information to the citizens. Does anyone believe this?
The Bee recently sued to obtain pension information on Stan County retired employees. Public employee are also citizens. Who agrees this information should be public information?
Since the print media has the ability to decide elections, sway peoples oppinions, and choose which facts it puts in a story or leaves out, should'nt they provide the salaries of all its staff and employees?
If the print media were concerned about quality factual reporting, all papers would be free. If the goal of papers is to inform the public of what is occuring, then all papers should be free. The cost of making papers would be paid for by Ads.

Gay marriage: Did I get your attention?
Submitted by slice_o_logic on Fri, 2009-11-06 09:44.I have heard ideas by a few with similar thoughts to my own on this subject, but not many. I think that the government should not differentiate between married or unmarried at all. That being said, I do believe that the relationship of marriage has always been between a man and a woman (or women). The english language is constantly changing, so the word marriage is often used in other ways, and I don't really care if two people of the same gender want to engage in a relationship and call it a "marriage". It seems to me that the extremes of pro or anti-gay marriage are loud, but do not give compelling arguments to support their position regarding law-making.

Teabaggers
Submitted by Lockett on Fri, 2009-11-06 04:18.I really don’t like to write things that paint anyone in a bad light, but I just couldn’t pass this up. As I watched the Teabaggers yesterday, and the leaders of the Republican Party that were there and how they were talking about how patriotic they were, it amazed me that they didn’t have things together. One of the things that struck me was Todd Akin (R-MO) as he was about to lead the crowed in the Pledge of Allegiance and his actual leading in that Pledge. First of all he said the it drove Liberals crazy; well that just in nothing short of a bald faced lie. I am a Liberal and for one thing I know the Pledge, which he doesn’t, secondly I have no problem saying it and living it. When I say he doesn’t know it that’s just what I mean. He led the crowd and when it came to the word “indivisible” he forgot it, the crowd had to interject it.

Politicians
Submitted by allen0 on Thu, 2009-11-05 22:09.By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then
campaign against them..
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are
against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and
high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on
appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme
How was District 4 won outright?..........shillism !
Submitted by wayne2008 on Thu, 2009-11-05 21:14.How was District 4 won outright? - Money, energy, and a positive message carried Joe Muratore to an unexpectedly large victory in his race for a Modesto City Council seat representing the La Loma and airport neighborhoods, political observers say. His margin of victory Tuesday - 54 percent - allows him to bypass a December runoff despite dogged campaigns run by opponents Jeff Perine and Robert Stanford.

Florida, Texas, California? Conservative Activists Mull Their Next Stand
Submitted by truthseekers on Thu, 2009-11-05 15:54.Conservative activists aren't wasting any time in mourning, as one put it, in the wake of their anointed candidate's narrow loss in New York's 23rd Congressional District.
Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele is among the realists who look at Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman's defeat and see . . . a defeat. But the groups, bloggers and radio talkers who poured time, money and passion into the dramatic roller coaster race are taking heart. Hoffman's meteoric rise from 17 percent to near-victory proves that "the principles of limited government and economic freedom are ascendant" heading into 2010, Club For Growth President Chris Chocola told supporters Wednesday.
