WFA Awards

It always feels good to recognized for a job well done and today we feel pretty good.

The Stanislaus County Fair has earned Five WFA awards for the 2009 Fair.  The Western Fairs Association recognized the Fair with four first place awards for exceptional Park ‘n Ride Shuttle program, Rainforest Adventure viral video, Stash of Cash radio promotion with KHOP and Mocse Credit Union, and 55+ Relaxation Station sponsored by Covenant Village.  In addition, the Fair received a second place award for the Rainforest Adventure Exhibit sponsored by Sky Trek Aviation.  Thanks to all the sponsors that made these great events possible.

The Beach Boys

THE BEACH BOYS BRING THEIR 'GOOD VIBRATIONS' TO THE FAIR

I remember listening to the Beach Boys as a kid.  My Mom grew up in Southern California and thought I needed to get to know the music she listened to when she was young. (I need to remember to thank her for that.) Nothing brings back memories of my childhood summers better than hearing classic songs like ‘Help Me Rhonda’ and ‘Little Deuce Coupe’. Great memories of one of America’s greatest all time bands.  You know what the best part is…

Fair Opens This Friday!

Ads designed – check. Website updated – check. Facebooked, myspaced, and tweeted about the free celebrity concerts and exciting motorsports events that will be at the Fair every night – check.  The only thing left to check off my list is to enjoy the opening of the Stanislaus County Fair!  The Fair is opening this Friday, July 31 for a 10-day run.

The 72-acre fairgrounds are located at 900 N. Broadway in Turlock. Now in its 98th year, Fair officials have been working year round to plan for the annual family extravaganza.

County's finest livestock to be sold at Stanislaus County Fair

There was excitement in the crowd, the animals were all on their best behavior, and the auctioneer was speaking faster than the speed of light at last year’s Annual Replacement Heifer Sale at the Stanislaus County Fair.  Last year was my first experience at the auction. I had tagged along with my friend and her family, who owns a dairy in Modesto to see for myself what her family had talked about so often.

Though we are still two weeks away from the opening of your Stanislaus County Fair, our fairgrounds is already full of activity. It’s the time of year when we start to compress a lot of work into a little bit of time.
