GAME IN A GRAF – Esmil Rogers limited the Giants to one run on seven hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one to ear his first home victory since June 6. Anthony Jackson, Mike Paulk and Michael McKenry had two hits apiece for the Nuts. McKenry drove in three runs, while Paulk capped the scoring with his eighth homer of the season, a solo shot in the seventh. The Nuts’ magic number to clinch the final North Division wild card berth over Visalia is 3.

NEW GUY ON THE MOUND – Sean Jarrett, a 6-feet, 5-inch righty from Ohio via Oral Roberts University, made his first appearance for the Nuts in Thursday’s win, working a  perfect ninth inning with one strikeout.

Jarrett, a 20th-round pick in the 2006 draft , was 2-3 with a 3.21 ERA in 22 relief appearances for Tri-City.

TONIGHT: San Jose at Modesto, 7:05 p.m. Righty Aneury Rodriguez (8-10, 3.88) will go for the Nuts against Giants’ righty Kevin Pucetas (10-2, 3.07.)
