Training in Dalian
Training in Dalian
Wow! It is hard to believe I have been training in China for over a week. The Chinese are treating us very well, and our team has lots of amenities and activities to pass time in between training sessions. At our team hotel we have a super cool athlete’s lounge complete with a Nintendo Wii, ping-pong table, games, wireless internet, and a bowling alley! The lounge is a fun place to hang out with teammates or talk a little trash during a heated game of dominos.
Dalian is located on the Yellow Sea, so it is very warm and humid here. The skies have been clear and sunny with only one day of heavy fog/smog. The team hotel over looks the ocean where there is a vibrant aqua-farming industry. As you look out on the bay, it is covered with nets, little boats and people busy at work; we are not allowed to swim in the water. We are allowed to swim in the hotel pool, which I did today to the audience of several Chinese attendants and security, talk about a fish bowl.
The energy is really starting to build, especially with Opening Ceremonies tomorrow evening. There are so many moments during the Olympics that are surreal and hard to describe, the Opening Ceremony is high on that list. Another surreal moment for me has been having my own pair of throwing shoes made for me, something I dreamed about as young girl. Asics, my shoe sponsor, delivered to my room two pairs of shoes specially designed for me! They are red, white and blue with an American flag and my name on them, very cool.
That’s all for now…

Belt Buckle Dreams
If you run into the Hamm boys could you please give them my regrets. It just colors me blue with remorse that their injuries will keep them out of this years festivities. I sure hope they will be able to keep their roles as ewoks in the upcoming star wars movie.

Hey Suzy!
Pha-Tandy can't stop talking about your China trip. We couldn't be prouder of our hometown hero. Glad to hear the Olympic Village is so nice for you guys. I hope they are keeping you safe. Have they had you guys do any fire drills yet? If you get tired of playing dominoes, have one of the locals teach you how to play checkers.
Can you bring me back some handcuffs? We're all planning a big Olympics viewing party on Aug. 14 at Shively's Bar and Grill to cheer you on. Any and all locals are welcome to join us.
Good Luck Suzy!!

ANSWERED PRAYER COMING
Hi, Suzy.
We have been praying for this moment since we met you at the Jordan Rubin class at Calvary Temple. We are so proud of you and what you have accomplished, and we pray that all your hard work and dreams will be fullfilled in the next few days. You are a wondeful example of the best in sports and the perfect role model for young hopefuls and for great grandparents like us.
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

I'm glad to see that you're having a safe & sane time in Beijing. Hope you're not developing a smoker's cough in all that clean air.
