Hello from China
Reading time, two seconds...
After three straight days of travel and Olympic Team processing, I am finally settled in at the track and field team training camp in Dalian, China. I am not allowed to tell you where I am staying, but the accommodations are beautiful and we are being treated very well by the Chinese. As you can imagine, security is very tight. Our team is being treated with the same level of security as if the President of the United States was in town. Any time we are on the road, going to practice, airports, really anything we do, the traffic is stopped far in advance and literally hundreds of security people escort us through...amazing!
Team processing in San Jose was incredible as well. You would think after three Olympic Teams I would not be shocked by the amount of gifts and gear we receive, but it still blows me away. From rings to leather jackets, cell phones to shoes, we get thousands of dollars of gear. Any family or friends reading this should know they have some gifts coming when I return!
The morning after team processing in San Jose we flew from SFO to Beijing. By "we" I mean various Olympic Teams. My flight had members of the fencing, diving, and track and field team. We arrived in Beijing the following afteroon and checked into Olympic Village. The Olympic Village is very close to the "Bird's Nest" and the Aquatic Center, both buildings are dazzling and inspiring to see in person. I must wait until my qualifing round August 15 to see the inside, however.
Please stay tuned for more from me and my adventures in China. I have to sign off for the day and prepare for this afternoon's training session.
All the best,
Suzy

Suzy,
There's nothing like a good afternoon at the Mint Club with some Portugese friends to bring back Olympic memories. After my dream season in Grenoble, we had a lot of fun at the Schwingfest. I still think I could be right there with my bud C. Young and have won gold if it wasn't for those meddlin' kids who stole my mittens right before the opening ceremonies. Please learn from my mistakes and keep a keen eye on your equipment!!
Hang tough,
