The fact that I love old motorcycles probably says something disturbing about my age and personality. But I did have fun at the Classic Japanese Motorcycle Show and Swap Meet over the weekend in Auburn.
And my son enjoyed the show as well, so maybe it doesn’t mean I’m a hopeless old…guy.
So here’s some of the pictures I took:

This is a Suzuki Titan, a 500 cc two-stroke twin back in the day. It was considered the upper limit of two-stroke size, until a couple of 750 two-strokes appeared.

This is a Yamaha RD 350, another two stroke twin that had considerable racing success. It reportedly had a power band like an on-off switch – mild in the low and mid range rpms, and then sudden and insane acceleration at the top.

This is a Honda 305 Scrambler, the high-piped version of the Superhawk that I shouldn’t have sold.

This is an amazing Bonneville Salt Flats racer, using two Superhawk engines. It supposedly hit 132 miles an hour – faster than a stock Superhawk, but perhaps not worth the considerable trouble and expense to build it.

This is a Honda with a very tiny engine, which reminds me of how small Japanese motorcycles were when they first arrived here. With high gas prices, maybe these things will come back.

This is a Honda CB 100, just like the first motorcycle I ever owned. It's even the same color. I wonder if it's for sale....

Not everything involved motorcycles at the show. This is a bar stool racer. I gather there are actually organized races for these things. I won't contemplate the mixed image of bar stools and driving...
