Great in '08

New Years 2008
Happy New Year! Okay, okay so I’m a week late, but the wish is sincere and to steal a toast from my daughter, here’s to ‘Great in ’08!’

I’m sure there are many of you who have made resolutions, but as for me, I really try to stay away from that word.  After all, break it down, it’s re-solutions, doesn’t that imply something needing a solution and mostly doesn’t that point to a problem.  Well, I really don’t like looking at myself and my life as problematic (which some that know me call ignorance, denial or downright delusional, however I prefer optimistic) so I don’t like to think I need solutions.  Instead, I set GOALS, things to ‘GO After Longingly,’ longlingly being the opportune word here. I really do want a lot of things, but for me it’s all about the things I long for …

So for 2008, I may want to budget my time better, but I long to spend more time with my family, I may want to find my keys without tearing my home apart each morning, but I long to get organized, I may want to sit attentively and listen to my mom-in-law’s thirty-seven hundredth rendition of her young afternoons cutting apricots, but I long to be more compassionate.

So no resolutions for me, just my GOALS and for those of you who made those annual resolutions and are a week into your journey, visit http://www.usa.gov/Citizen/Topics/New_Years_Resolutions.shtml where you can find some of the most popular resolutions and some tips to help you be successful and ‘Great in ’08.’
