Here, Little Fishy ...

We ran an item in the paper yesterday that really caught my eye. It’s “Free Fishing Day” on June 9 and I thought well here’s my chance. I never really got “hooked” on this adventure, mainly because someone told me it requires some patience, something that is sometimes hard for me to come by. Anyway, I wasn’t sure where I would spend my free bait and wait day, so I went to the internet and checked for local fishing holes at http://www.recreation.gov/welcome.do?topTabIndex=Home.
It’s a recreation portal of Federal sites and gives you the opportunity to make reservations, check out campgrounds and even search for certain spots based on the activities available there. I searched for fishing in California both near Sacramento and Fresno and 180 opportunities popped up … now I just have to decide where I’ll get my catch of the day…

Small mouth bass
are jumping at Modesto Reservoir. It's a great place for a quick and close get away. We went camping there just a couple of weeks ago, and the boys caught several of those fish.
The geese came right up into our campground and we hand fed them. 2 adult females and 19 chicks. We fed them wheat bread, they loved it.
But the highlight for the boys were catching those small mouth bass. Using wiggle tail worms, and nightcrawlers.
Somethng interesting.. After camp set-up, which took about two hours, I was surprised to see yellow crime scene tape around all the campsites on the hill where we were. It seems that there was a small problem with a sewer at the park. We had the whole campground to ourselves. Maybe thats why the boys were able to catch some fish. :D
Side note:
While I dont mind buying live worms, I wont touch them. YUCK!
