The Bee Wins Law Suit: Is Print Media Really Concerned About Informing The Public

The print media often claims that its purpose is to provide information to the citizens. Does anyone believe this?

The Bee recently sued to obtain pension information on Stan County retired employees. Public employee are also citizens. Who agrees this information should be public information?

Since the print media has the ability to decide elections, sway peoples oppinions, and choose which facts it puts in a story or leaves out, should'nt they provide the salaries of all its staff and employees?

If the  print media were concerned about quality factual reporting, all papers would be free. If the goal of papers is to inform the public of what is occuring, then all papers should be free. The cost of making papers would be paid for by Ads.

So there is a little public information I would like to know? What are the salaries and benefits of all Bee Staff and Pensions. Since you are providing the information the public see's I think we have a right to know, so we the public can form an oppinion about who is reporting to us.

I do not expect to see a bill any longer either.

True free press would and should be free.

If you look at who owns the Media, it's the people that have something to gain monetarily. And to gain monetarily big-time, you have to make inroads into the political system. Thus one could say politicians are bought by the power money people in this country and media plays a huge part in the process.

well said but to fight a

well said but to fight a public news media they are covered by to many laws it usless. good luck the way they are covered they dont need a lawyer all they need to say is what they do and how the law protects them.

Freedom....I was again struck by the irony of the

PTB at the Bee speaking of their position as the government watchdog.

They are pushing for salary amounts?

That is fine...but what about tracking money spent by corrupt Local and Federal LE to get Bob Holloway? (don't forget DeLeon costs)

How about a picture of those fancy horse trailers/trucks that Christianson bought for the Mounted Unit?

Christianson lied about the details of where the money came from.

Why wasn't the Bee interested in that?

How much money did the County really spend fighting to keep the SO lawsuits from going forward?

How many DA employees are admin. leave? How many more months will the employee or employees be paid for staying home?

Mountain House and the MID...I am still interested in that one.

Thank you for writing this blog.

I agree the records

Should be looked at, for I have heard there are county retires who have retired, and collect a check and were hired back full time. So they are recieving a retirement check from the county and are still employed by the county.

It may be perfectly legal I don't know myself, but would find it suspicious.

Nothing PRESIDENT OBAMA does will ever make these nutjobs happy.

I'm sure of that by now.
