Editors Desk: Spammers again

Hive bloggers: Unfortunately, we've had another outbreak of spam on the site and we've had to ratchet up our anti-spam controls. Please let me know if you experience any interference in trying to post. I hope the countermeasures will be in force only temporarily. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

No offence intended, but the pop-up spam on the main page of the Modesto Bee, to me is much more annoying then ignoring a few obvious spam bots, Google ad's are much less intrusive to a paying customer. Again, the need to decifer some ridiculous hieroglyph in order to post might be avoidable to some if we have a designated mod list certain Hive vets as non-spam / captcha free.

Just a few idea's, thanks for keeping everything moving!

  I was wondering if I was the only one having trouble reading the captcha glyph!  Took me a few tries, then I realized I couldn't put a space between the words!

IDPNC: nobody is censoring your posts. We've been tweaking the settings on our spam-fighting controls this morning. We're done with the changes for now.
