It was an interesting race.
and I learned quite a bit. I just want to thank the Bee for doing a great job of covering the candidates, and the issues. I think your coverage made all the difference. Thank God for the Bee. I mean that.
Denial ain't just a river in Egypt
this election again was fixed
Speaking of the city council races.
Does the Bee take credit for bashing the latino candidates?
Will the Bee deny they had influenced this election?
Why didn't the Bee let the public know that Joe Muratore's business partner had drawn that district election map?
Election was fixed?
Your notion that the City Council District Elections were fixed is an insult to everyone who casted their vote yesterday.
I find it hard to believe that in 2009, there are still people like yourself who think only latinos can represent latinos, blacks can represent blacks, and whites can represent whites.
If you truly believe the election was fixed I suggest you contact the County Elections Office, and the Fair Political Practices Commission, and file a formal complaint. I am interested to see what kind of response you'll get.
@Wayne
Admit that your candidates lacked the appeal to be elected. That's the core reason, plain and simple. It wouldn't matter where the district boundaries were, they still would have lost.
mtber its not an insult at all
The voters did not know about Muratore's business partner had drawn up the district map. And I don't need your suggestions, I am already planning to do that and much more.
@wayne
Wasn't there a Committee established to discuss and vote on the District boundaries? You act as if Mr. Swehla was the ONLY one to decide were the boundaries were to be set. I find that very hard to believe.
The only latino candidate in the City Council race was Al Nava. I didn't feel the Bee bashed him, at all. He dug himself a hole by making lewd comments on his facebook and twitter accounts, calling his opponent names, and being non-responsive to any inquiries from Bee Reporters. And you say the Bee bashed him? To Al's credit, the race in District 2 was very close. Not bad for a guy who's lived in the neighborhood for only a matter of months.
No offense, but I just find your logic to be way out of there.
@mtber
Wayne is going to come back to the fact that the council is the one who selected the map.
He may have an argument for sitting members to draw districts which would benefit them, but to stretch that to make the case that Muratore and Geer were elected only because of the map is what I think is "out there"
