Thought I would let everyone know the recent developements on posting pictures on the hive

I wanted to let everyone one know what I stumbled across this afternoon.  I wanted to make sure everyone knew so they would not be in violation of hive rules or worse.

Photo use on modbee.com

Here's an simple, straightforward answer to almost all questions about posting photos and images: if you hold the copyright on the photo, you are free to post it. If you do not hold the copyright, you should not post it.

Police mug shots are not "publicly" owned. There's no such term. Technically, mugs are the property of the agency that took the photos, usually the sheriff's office around here. The S.O. distributes photos to the media, and we are able to publish them. But that doesn't mean other people can.

If a law enforcement agency were to give you permission to use an image, you'd be OK.

Disclosure: This is practical advice, not legal advice. If you want legal advice on such an issue, contact an attorney.

Dan

I posted a few questions for Dan Day and I am waiting for a response.

Well then, I guess people better get busy deleting, right Dan?

Wait a minute per the Hive guidlines 1. You agree that you are fully responsible for the content that you post. You will not knowingly post content that violates the copyright, trademark, patent or other intellectual property right of any third party and that you will remove the same should you discover that you have violated this provision.

4. The discussion forums are for text only. Use of graphics and audio is not appropriate.

Aren't pictures graphics?  There are many photo's that are being copied from a site that supposedly charged for the pictures.  Does that mean the person stole from that site if they didn't have prior consent?  Some think if it is posted on a internet site then they have the authority to rip them off. If this is against Bee guidelines then why are they allowed to stay here on the Hive?  Also there are pics, that a certain person is saying are obscene, so why are they on the hive? Just curious, as I do not want to break the rules. But apparently others have. If it is against the rules and the Hive does not enforce these rules, does that make the Hive responsible for the fall out? I will remove the she-devil from my post.  I only posted it because I saw the pics from Activist1 and thought mine was much less offensive so I was safe.

FYI about picture posting on the hive

Let the deleting begin? I know he says you should not post it, but hive rules state that you will remove the same should you discover that you violated this provision.

good point wilderj

Joe Cataline never gave activist1 or "sock puppet" the right to post those pictures he even mentioned that in Jardines article.

If it apply's to one it apply's to all.

I haven't been here to long, but this is the way I can see

some of the children getting around the rule(s). If they stop posting directly to this site they will make posts on this site that directs traffic to another site that contains either photos and/or demeaning gossip about someone along with as much personal information they can steal. Specifically, Mr. Heaton does this. Just the same as Rampage so graciously brought us his unclesamsboot.blogspot.com site when he was absent for a week. Was that an accident people? Come on. .....

Like I said, I haven't been here to long and don't want to get thrown off for expressing myself, but I have noticed that Mr. Heaton guy directs people to unclesamsboot.blogspot.com and that site has horrible comments and stolen photos he has stolen by his own diligence and deviance.

This should not be allowed either and they should enforce the rules with everyone. He can put what he want on his site, but he should not be allowed to advertise it on the Hive. Same with everyone else that has a normal site such as a few people here. It's not rocket science to tell the difference.

Well I guess sockpuppet better delete or get banned, RIGHT? .

Hive bloggers might be interested to know that by re-running a column from The Bee, this WordPress blog to which sockpuppet links is in violation of The Bee's copyright terms.

Dan

For I do not hide

Per Bee guidleines, here is an option
7. The first violation of the guidelines will result in a warning from modbee.com staff. The second will result in a two-week suspension from The Hive. The third result in a months' suspension and the fourth, a permanent ban.
To register a complaint about another user's conduct, please send an e-mail message to webstaff@modbee.com, or write to Customer Service, modbee.com, 1325 H St., P.O. Box 3928, Modesto, CA 95352. Complaints will not be addressed on The Hive.

In recent days, Dan Day has posted what constitutes violations of Hive Guidelines.  I am requesting that these guidelines be enforced. I realize that many are in violation and I myself may be as well.  Although I have not done so knowingly. Please let me know if I am and I will remove said content.  For I have never been warned. I do believe that others have and failure to enforce the guidelines puts the credibility of the guidelines at risk. Thank you, wilderj

This is getting stupid

This is getting stupid and the hives failure to enforce their own rules is adding to the stupidity.  Dan has said what the guidelines are and he has acknowledged that many are breaking the rules. The problem I have is; this is creating a very unstable environment by not stepping in. I am a logical person, but, I do not see the logic here, Whether it is for or against someone I support. I do not agree with stalking of Robert Stanford by jheaton and do believe he may have a great case after this election is over.

The crap sockpuppet and activist1 put about Joe Cataline with illegally obtained pictures is a violation of hive rules. Yes, it does make me reconsider my vote, but it is what it is, and I think Olsen hasn't done enough to keep her on the council. I believe Joe will best represent what is most important “OUR YOUTH”.

I wonder if sockpuppet, activist1, stancoinsider and sarahj1234567 are the one and the same. Heck, there are probably more. I also realize that the election is almost over and this madness may stop, but, it will still be here on the hive and the damage will continue.

I have told those that have been attacked to copy everything that has been on the hive for future reference. If I were Robert and Joe, I would hire a good attorney. I believe the hives failure to act could lead them into delicate waters. I understand, that it is the person posting, who is liable, However, if the hive knows these things are being posted, yet fails to act,  could it be held liable? I am not an attorney, so this is an observation/opinion not a  statement of  fact. I think I see culpability. I enjoy using the hive, but as you may have noticed, I too have become frustrated.

Linda Taylor Activist1, sock puppet,  saraj1234567 and stancoinsider (if you click on the contact us, on that site, the email happens to be a linda) have posted pictures and links to things they do not own. There are many graphics from others as well. Ignorance is not a defense, as it has been pointed out to me. Linda has sockpuppets, Linda is violatiing hive guidelines, Linda has been warned before, Linda should be suspended along with her sockpuppets, as well as others who abuse the hive. I see many people log in but never leave comments,

I do believe the drama is what is keeping the hive from growing. It is easy to get sucked in when the hive staff fails to discipline those that are breaking the rules. I reliaze they are not babysitters, however, I do believe they share in the responsibility of what they allow to remain on the hive. Dan Day may want to ask their legal staff about Nonfeasance. Sorry Dan, but this is out of control.
