Silver & Black Blog: Week 6 picks

If you're coach Tom Cable, with the season already lost, do you pull JaMarcus Russell if he gets off to a slow start?

That's one of the things I look forward to seeing on Sunday.

No doubt, JaMarcus Russell is going to get booed early, and if he gets off to a bad start, it's going to be pretty brutal.

In all the games I've been to since the return to Oakland, I don't know if I've ever heard a young player get the treatment Russell got in the final 1 1/2 quarrters of the game against Denver.

If things to astray early, will he let him stay in?

In a season that's gone, that's about the only intriguing thing left in football's wasteland by the way.

So there. I guess I do have something to look forward to on Sunday.

Well, that and whether I can get back into double-figures in my picks. Here are Week 6. Use them at your own risk.

St. Louis at Jacksonville: Jekyll and Hyde Jags got blown out last week. So, naturally, they're due for a win. Pick: Jacksonville

New York Giants at New Orleans: Both teams coming off a bye (OK, the Giants played the Raiders ... is there a difference?). I like the Saints at home. Pick: New Orleans

Carolina at Tampa Bay: Tampa is worse than Oakland without the drama.  Pick: Carolina

Baltimore at Minneosta: Ravens blew one last week. They won't do it again. Title this ... two solid teams, but Baltimore plays in the best conference.  Pick: Baltimore

Detroit at Green Bay: Not sure if the Lions will be able to score off Packers' defense. Pick: Green Bay

Houston at Cincinnati: This is a tough one because I like the Texans. Bengals are on a roll. Pick: Cincinnati

Cleveland at Pittsburgh: Let's see ... Mangini is on the chopping block and Brady Quinn has put his home up for sale. Pick: Pittsburgh

Kansas City at Washington: The Chiefs have to win sometime. How about now. Pick: Kansas City

Arizona at Seattle: Another tough one. Still not sold on Seahawks. Pick: Arizona

Philadelphia at Oakland: Glad it's blacked out. Oh wait, I have tickets. ... Those boos you hear from 1-4 p.m. are directed at JaMarcus Russell. Pick: Philadelphia

Buffalo at New York Jets: Buffalo won't score a touchdown off Jets defense. Pick: New York Jets

Tennessee at New England: Titans coach Jeff Fisher is well-respected. So was Mike Shanahan. Don't see this one turning out well for Tennessee. Pick: New England

Chicago at Atlanta: Routing the 49ers wasn't a signature win. Routing the Bears will be. Pick: Atlanta

Denver at San Diego: Is there a way both could lose? Chargers will protect their home turf. Pick: San Diego

Last week: 9-5 Season: 48-28
