The Farm Beat: On the Trail of the Alpaca
Submitted by johnholland on Wed, 2009-09-23 08:37.
I'm off this morning to visit a local alpalca ranch, for a story about public tours taking place this weekend at operations around the country. I've always been intrigued by the creatures as I drove by this farm east of Modesto. Now I get to meet them up close. And get the answer to a vital question: How can an animal with such a goofy face produce such fine fiber for clothing?
Check modbee.com and The Bee for details on the weekend tours.

OK I have to know more about Alpaca Farms
the commercials for them are so intriguing...what are they actually raised for? Their fur? Their meat? They seem so loveable...
Alpaca
Yes just for the fleece.
What a great day!
I got the chance to visit one of the farms during the open house. The alpaca is so darn CUTE...that purring thing they do is hiLARIOUS....
