Stanford VS. The Old Guard

He is walking in our shoes today!

 

For over 100 years the City of Modesto has been controlled by the Old Guard. Look around and see where this has gotten us.

Modesto needs a voice for the working man.

Modesto needs a voice for the working woman.

A voice for the poor.

A voice for the desperate.

Because today, we certainly are in our most desperate hour.

Vote for me, Robert Stanford for Modesto City Council District 4. Let me tell you why:

Let me tell you the truth:

They closed the restrooms in the parks and said it was our fault because we didn't speak up or tell them how to budget.
(They won't even provide a list of which ones.)

They nearly spent $300,000.00 on a counter they already had.
(The mayor scolded the Bee for mentioning it)

They only return the calls of people they want to talk to.
(They stopped returning mine when they knew I was running.)

They spent millions fighting District Elections.
(They setup a committee to pretend it was our fault)

They turn a blind eye to gangs, drugs and homelessness.
(How many more of our neighbors must die, destroy their own lives, or have their lives destroyed by criminals running rampant from a gutted MPD?)

They still serve the developers, the building industry and the rich, even as we see foreclosed homes down every street we look.
(George Petralukas and Mike Zagaris run this entire City via the handsom campaign contributions laid at the feet of City Council members who are in fact no more than puppets that forever do their bidding.)

Despite what they say after each and every gang-related homicide, they could care less about you, your children or any of your problems.
(Show up at a council meeting and speak - you won't bother to again. And don't make any noise from your seat or the mayor may have you escorted from the building by armed officers.)

Why should they care anything about you or your life in the City of Modesto? You don't affect their bottom line.
(Even though you are paying for it.)

For how long has this been going on?
(Since Modesto was first built by Chinese and Mexican Immigrants and then shot in the very streets of downtown Modesto. You won't learn about that in our white-washed museum though.)

Over 100 years.
(Water Wealth Contentment Health - but not in parts per billion, I'm afraid.)

Elect a voice - Elect a fighter - Put one of your own on the Modesto City Council this year. Elect me, Robert Stanford - I will fight tooth and nail to preserve whatever is left of the great heritage of the City of Modesto.

A vote for Robert Stanford is a Vote for yourself and your very future.

I have been hungry, they have not. They have no idea how it feels to see children suffer. They simply turn their heads. Even when it is your child that is crying.
