Editors Desk: 'Talk about' feature
Here's a nifty little utility in The Hive that I hadn't noticed until recently. It's the "talk about" function that you'll find in the controls box at the top left corner of each page on the site. It's the link directly below "recent posts" that many of our users click.
By clicking "talk about," you'll get a list of dozens of recent stories that have moved on modbee.com in several categories. There's even stuff from sacbee.com.
You can click the headline to read the story, but even better, note the small blue "b" icon to the right of each headline. Click that and it brings up a formatted blog entry, headline, photos and all. You can post it as is or edit it any way you choose.
I used it to create this blog entry. Give it a try. The direct link, which you might want to bookmark, is http://thehive.modbee.com/talkabout.

To tell you the truth...
I don't know.
It may have been there all along, although I suspect it was installed several months ago when we upgraded to a new version of Drupal software that drives The Hive.
That neither of us noticed it probably underscores that we're creatures of habit who find one way in and stick to it. I'm continually surprised to see how other people on the newsroom staff navigate modbee.com and The Hive. Some people go strictly by bookmarks, others don't have any bookmarks, for example.
In any event, I just stumbled on "talk about" within the last week or so and finally got around to pointing it out. It really is pretty nifty!

Its been there I just never
tried it out, I thought it was just a sampling. Though according to the message it started on 11-28-2008. Most did notice many were still in shock over the Obama Presidential election and father Illo being blamed for hedging votes.
