Editors Desk: The death of Michael Jackson

If you thought the media coverage of Michael Jackson was a circus while he was alive, imagine what we'll see now that he's dead. Word is breaking from Los Angeles this afternoon that the "King of Pop" went into cardiac arrest and was brought to an LA hospital in a coma. The celebrity gossip site apparently was the first media outlet to report that Jackson died, followed by the LA Times, CBS News and The Associated Press.
As I write this post, CNN is showing live footage of swarms of journalists setting up cameras outside the hospital. Coverage of Jackson's death will continue without interruption for several days. Remember how intensely the death of Anna Nicole-Smith was covered? Jackson's death will dwarf that.
Love him or loathe him, few entertainers commanded public attention the way Jacko did. As a child star, as a young man at the top of the charts, and as a Hollywood freak show later in life, Jackson always found his way into the spotlight. He drew huge crowds - to his court hearings, to his concerts, to the Berlin balcony from which he dangled his infant child.
The impression he left was indelible.

No matter anyone's opinion of Michael Jackson, Thriller is one THE Best music albums ever made. He's a music icon, and will be missed by many.

Favorite Jackson song?
We've got a poll on our homepage at www.modbee.com asking people to name their favorite Michael Jackson song.
And where would Weird Al be if Michael hadn't come along? We'd not have "Eat It" or "Fat."

Jackson Song....
I think "Black and White" is up there with one of his best, especially when he sang it at the Super Bowl. A little representation of human solidarity.
Beyond that, how could you go wrong with "Thriller."
was partial to whip it song
i'm not really a big mr. jackson fan, but enjoyed the song "whip it". great song.

Truly a sad Day
I am in shock right now, I was just getting used to knowing that Ed Macmahon is gone when all of a sudden I hear about Farrah Fawcett.
So when I turned the station after watching a hour special on her I tune into KCRA and OMG!! this horrible news hits me!!
Elvis Presley is the King of Rock n Roll......Michael Jackson is considered the King of Pop..
What is weird is that they both die at almost the same age right?
Rock and Roll? Um, no.
King of Rock and Roll? Hardly; that would belong to Elvis or Buddy Holly. Sadly, a whole lot of people are going to get all sloppy and sentimental about Michael Jackson's death. Let's try to recall that he was a pedophone. Not a great loss, truly.
No....
Elvis died at the age of 42. But he still lives in my CD collection!

I was a little off but my gosh they both died so darn young :(
Oh by the way, you should see the sales on Michaels merchandise!! on Ebay, they are going thru the roof. One guy who had 40 CD's to sell wasn't getting any bites as of yesterday and now by this afternoon he had sold them all out!!
"Dirty Diana" was a cool
"Dirty Diana" was a cool song. And "Keep it in the Closet" very cool. Can't play it too loud.

I would like to see how many people are pulling out the dusty records right now? I am afraid of how many ring tones are going to be set to MJ's songs also? Yikes!!!!!LOL

That was a GREAT song
Thanks for the reminder, I am trying to remember the one where he is in the video with that coreogrpher named Michael something, and they are getting ready to brawl with thier gang towards another gang, WOW that song is sharp!!
But this old brain can't grasp the name and I'm to lazy to dig out the LP's
Thriller
I think that will be my favorite - Quincy with Michael, what a combo!
mj is infinate
give it three days, he will rise again!
Jacko in our midst
Interesting discussion among our family tonight. Teenager tells me that Michael Jackson was probably more important to his generation because of the spectacle of his trials. Daughter in her 20s phones to say she can remember dancing with her brother to "Thriller" and says Jackson's death is "huge."
Me? I'm trying to figure out whether I unloaded those "Thriller" and "Bad" cassettes at a garage sale last summer.

Favorite MJ song- Dangerous
He was born talented and black in America. Not just a little talented, but like Nijinsky or Martha Graham or gosh, just beyond human as a dancer .Can't you see his strengths outweighed his flaws. As a performer trying to please and not be shut out of the music business as a black person ,he sufferedAmerica's love /hate devotion. He brokedown doors and made people want to be more alive, not just souless ciphers. He was made what he was on a.personallevel and he tried to be perfect as a performer

THERE WAS NO CLAPPING FOR ME BUT AS THE MUSIC WENT I WAS INTO IT MORE I JUST WENT MICHAEL ON EVERYONE.

WITH OUT YOU THIS WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN POSSIBLE MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE NOW AND THE LORD WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF HIM, ON EARTH HE WAS A STAR THAT SHINE. NOW HE WILL BE THAT STAR THAT WILL SHINE BRIGHT EVERY NIGHT IN THE SKY.
I grew up with the jackson
I grew up with the jackson 5, and wasn't a big fan of the group but the talent of Michael Jackson cannot be denied. My favorite songs of his would have to be:
1)Rock with you
2)The love you save
3)Thriller
I've always thought the pressure instilled by his father intent on forming a musical group of his children along with the intense popularity provided by his unreal celebrity, helped create his emotional and behavioral issues later in life. Remember his gifts and his talent.

your comments are your opinions but, to want to piss on the mans grave is way out of content to make a blog such as yours. i dont know personally but if you want to talk like that please have a get together at your house behind close doors. There at your home you can say want when you want and as you please.
remember he was convicted by public opinion not by a court of law so deal with it.
in the words of mr. jackson just
BEAT IT
Favorite song is "Remember the Time"
I love this video, the song, and the dancing is incredible.
MJ married Lisa Presley and broke a 1000 racial barriers
His dancing could raise the dead. He was a great songwriter .he could really sing and he bought the beatles song catalog when Apple Studios went broke-Very smart. He was never convicted ,but he acted weirdly for a AfricaAmerican inthe publicspotlight. Bad or good morally he changed American pop music. He outdanced face to face justin Timberlake,Usher,Ne-Yo,Chris brown . The BET Awards show or Essence awards show when he first did that moonwalkwas riveting to everyone there.his new concert series sold out already and they expected to make $400 million dollars. He was the KING of something american . What is a pedophone?
"Smooth Criminal"? Is that
"Smooth Criminal"? Is that what you're thinking of?
Thriller.....
The
death of Michael Jackson has resulted to the increase of his album sales.
Everyone talks about the King of Pop; it seems like everywhere I turn to, I
always hear something on Michael Jackson. However, those who spent short term loans on the upcoming London concerts will no miss the chance to see
Thriller live, along with missing the man who made it possible. Michael Jackson
will be sorely missed, but perhaps the one thing that he is known for to so
many people is his album Thriller. Thriller was recorded in 1982, and
what Jackson had in mind was an album in which every song was a hit – and he
succeeded. It has sold over 50 million copies, and estimates for actual
sales are over 100 million, which makes it the most successful album of all
time. On top of legendary songs, guest artists on the record include Paul
McCartney and Eddie Van Halen.
