Here we go: MD at the line and Jazz is good again with 2, 49-44 at 2:35. Jazz had nowhere to go as she penetrated and her “shot” – if you can call it that, hit the underside of the rim, yet still draws a whistle. Dude, where was she going with the ball??

Marinna McKeever stops a disaster by drawing a charge on Jazz as she drives again. Jazz had just hit a driving layup to cut MC’s lead to 49-46 …

MC another turnover and MD can tie it with a 3 … but instead they find Jazz inside and she scores on the inbounds for a 49-48 game MC …

MD’s Henry drives to the hoop, but MC freshman Valerie Moore has position and the whistles blows for a charge before her shot goes in. No!!! the official up top rushes in and overrules the baseline ref and calls it a block. The baseline ref meekly backs away and gives up the call – this is the best we get for state finals, a weakling who won’t stand up for his call??

Nice job CIF, next time hire someone who knows how to use a whistle. The frustration is that the game was called loose for 28 minutes, then when it gets down to the finish the 3 folks with the whistles tense up and try to take control of the game by calling foul after foul …

Want proof: The teams combined to shoot 10 FTs in the first half, but they combined for 36 in the second half – that was crucial, because it gave MD’s starters plenty of time to rest while waiting to shoot FTs. That type of disparity doesn’t happen by accident --  it happens when you’ve got officials who aren’t confident enough to let the players decide the game …

Here’s another: MD shoots and the ball is off the mark, but the whistle goes and it’s another foul on MC. OK, it’s officially gotten ridiculous … Why is a foul now a foul, when it wasn’tr 5 minutes ago …

MC turns it over again in the open court and MD back to the line for 2 FTs …

Combo of MC’s inability to get an offense going in the fourth quarter – MC was up 49-39 with 3:31 to go, but has been outscored 15-2 since – and too many zebras wanting to decide the game had led to this finale …

MC’s Marinna McKeever is trapped and the ball is slapped out of bounds by MD, MC another TO with 3.8 seconds left – MD should foul now, better to force MC to shoot 2 FTs then let it try and tie the game with a trey …

Henton casts away from deep on the right side and it draws iron, but then ricochets away at the buzzer and Mater Dei wins a state title, 54-51 …
