Nation vs Nation - Health Care Stats

Interesting info - nice to know how the US stacks up against all those dastardly "socialized medicine" countries...

Rumble & Coffee - around 515pm

Anyone with a police scanner know what was going on on Rumble just east of Coffee Rd this evening?   I was driving west on Rumble and noticed the road was blocked off and the short glance I had, looked like about 5-6 MPD cars and perhaps a Sherriffs car parked in the street....

There are people in the tubes of the internets who are being SO mean to his kids.  He should so quit just to show them!

Please stop....

The MIS-use of the word "troll" in this blog and now actually printed in the Modesto Bee has gone too far.  When employing the term "troll" in relation to intenet users, there is a specific meaning attached.  Although, of course, anyone can use any term to describe another person or thier actions, but ,when a word that has a meaning different than how it is put into use is applied, it often makes the writer look purposefully ignorant.  Yes, I could write a 1000 word essay on what a horrible right-wing conservative President Obama is, that would be entirely within my rights and would most likely not break of the TOS of most blogs/forums.  It would appear to be quite ignorant of commonly used political terminology, but I could do it.  This is how I view this mis-use of the word "troll".   A simple Google search performed with the words "what is an internet troll" will yield many sites that give definations and explainations of internet trolls and thier behavior.

what does this mean? I need Christian help here...

I have been a "fan" of U2 for a VERY long time, and a fan of Bono thru that.  Yes he can be arrogant and pompous, but I have always appriciated his honesty.  I am not a Christian,  I identify myself as an agnostic.  But when I listen to U2 songs, I have always felt connected to the deeper spiritual meanings.  I stumbled upon this essay Bono wrote about some biblical passages, and I really liked it...but is it what "typical christians" think ... ?  I know we have a great variety of faiths who post here... so please take the time...read this and tell me what you think.

MPD - They aren't all bad

Well, I had my first experience with a member of the Modesto Police Dept. this morning.  Driving home from Starbucks at 6am I pull into the turn lane to turn into my apt complex parking lot and see the blue and reds flashing me.  So I pull over into my parking lot.  I have expired tags on my car (yes, my own fault for not dealing with my DMV business...

We need another blog about drug legalization

I found this blog and found it to be an interesting take on legalization.  And, yeah...we haven't talked this issue all out 50 ways from Wednesday ;)

http://www.theagitator.com/2009/05/04/cato-study-on-drug-decriminalization-in-porgugal/

I’m tardy in blogging this, but Cato has published a terrific study by Glenn Greenwald on Portugal’s eight-year experiment with drug decriminalization. The fact that most people probably weren’t aware that use of even hard drugs in Portugal doesn’t carry a criminal sanction is a pretty good sign that the program is working.
