The blog is a good source of information about The Bee, modbee.com and other Bee publications and Web sites. It is designed as a vehicle for the editors to inform and interact with readers in an informal yet respectful manner. ExtraCredit: About this blog
Submitted by mhatfield on Tue, 2009-07-28 09:42.This blog is a home for information on local schools, students, school staff, colleges, acronyms, test scores, financial aid and more that doesn’t fit in news stories, photos, or briefs. The forum is open to everyone and I encourage questions or feedback. The more conversations we have, the better. Please keep in mind that I’m new to blogging and will make mistakes, but I hope to learn as this blog evolves and improves.

The print media often claims that its purpose is to provide information to the citizens. Does anyone believe this?
The Bee recently sued to obtain pension information on Stan County retired employees. Public employee are also citizens. Who agrees this information should be public information?
Since the print media has the ability to decide elections, sway peoples oppinions, and choose which facts it puts in a story or leaves out, should'nt they provide the salaries of all its staff and employees?
If the print media were concerned about quality factual reporting, all papers would be free. If the goal of papers is to inform the public of what is occuring, then all papers should be free. The cost of making papers would be paid for by Ads.

Redemptive Suffering and Letting Go
Submitted by LSK49rs on Sat, 2009-11-07 06:14.We met Grandpa Doug after our family had been through another series of losses. Grandpa Leonard had died suddenly (doing what he loved; playing golf) and I had said good bye to one of the women I was priviliged to sponsor in my 12 step program (she had died of alcoholism, hooked up to an alcohol drip in the alcohol ward of a general hospital. It was a slow and ugly death, but I had been given the opportunity to hold her hand while she entered into eternal life. It changed me in a profound way).
Not being the brightest or best of the bunch, I remember thinking "Who is this guy?" the first time he showed up with Grandma Bobby at a family function. Slight in frame, brilliant blue eyes and a great smile, Grandpa Doug was quiet and shy. We, on the other hand, are boistrous and loud on our QUIET days and I seriously doubted whether this man would want to hang out with all of us for long.

Jessica Corry is a real conservative, unlike the many fake ones on this forum.
Submitted by Malcolmkyle on Sat, 2009-11-07 02:05.Jessica Corry wants to legalize marijuana. Wow, a republican acting like a real conservative by expressing her love for individual liberty and disdain of a failed nanny-like government policy, how refreshing!
THANK YOU SO MUCH MISS CORRY!
You are making this country a greater place for your children. I hope we'll be seeing your name on a national ballot in 2012!!
Mail bag: What is 'moral' truth, and what is 'immoral' truth?

VanGogh's Good Samaritan
Thankyou to EditorASC (a.k.a. Bob39) who, like Socrates the Gadfly, has persistently countered my thinking over the past six months with this question: “What is ‘moral’ truth, and what is ‘immoral’ truth?” Thankyou as well to Kim Caton Isenhower for helping bring to light that “It is a matter of opinion whether or not babies should be tortured” is a moral truth claim.
Cops Taser man with his hands already on the police car
Submitted by BikeRackIV on Fri, 2009-11-06 22:22.Some hillbilly's might say he probably deserved it for being black after 5pm on a weekday.
I just looked at the article. And he's actually black. And the Cop was white.
They really need to get some sort of affirmative action going on for police brutality victims.
I want to see some Wall Street CEOs tasered. I think for too long, rich white people have been excluded from police brutality. I think it's time they had a chance to be beaten about the head with a nightstick.

Rolando Ruiz is the man featured in yet another taser video making the rounds on Youtube. Ruiz was in police custody after being arrested by a Minneapolis police officer for reportedly throwing a brick at an officer’s vehicle.
