Editors Desk: About this blog

The Editor's Desk is the blog by three of the top editors at The Bee -- Mark Vasche, Dan Day and Dave Lyghtle -- in which they discuss a wide range of topics and media coverage of those topics. The blog is a good source of information about The Bee, modbee.com and other Bee publications and Web sites. It is designed as a vehicle for the editors to inform and interact with readers in an informal yet respectful manner. For links to more information about the editors, please turn to to our profile page.

ExtraCredit: About this blog

This blog is a home for information on local schools, students, school staff, colleges, acronyms, test scores, financial aid and more that doesn’t fit in news stories, photos, or briefs. The forum is open to everyone and I encourage questions or feedback. The more conversations we have, the better. Please keep in mind that I’m new to blogging and will make mistakes, but I hope to learn as this blog evolves and improves.

Does the Bee curtail comment on articles?

After logging off tonight I could not get the recent findings of the former Stanislaus Deputy who died in custody off of my mind.

So I went through my nightly hygine ritual and came back to my computer and logged in and re-read the Bee's article on Mr. Prescott. I then gave considerable thought to my comment and posted it, only to find out that it did not post.

I wondered why initally there had been no previous comments. There never seems to be a shortage of opinions on the Bee's articles.

So I posted a one-liner to another article to see if that would take, and it did.

And then it dawned on me. There may be a shortage or lack thereof if the Bee decides that is the way it will be.

They may claim a "glitch" and true glitches happen all the time with technology, but the Bee's glitches happen very conveniently.

Are they trying to stiffle public opinion until they can view them? Perhaps edit them out?

What do you think?

Free to be or not to be

There are to many personal attacks on the Hive.

Why doesn't the Modesto Bee stop it?  I use at least 7 screen names, I cant even remember some of them. The Modesto Bee is not paying attention.

Finally a Group of People Zagaris and Ridenour Couldn't Dupe or Buy..CSU Stanislaus faculty vote 'no confidence' in Shirvani

Unfortunately it's just another advisory vote that doesn't mean much.  Stanislaus County is getting use to these.

TURLOCK — Faculty at California State University, Stanislaus, overwhelmingly supported a "no confidence" vote against President Hamid Shirvani.

Results of the weeklong voting were released this afternoon — 90 percent voted no confidence in Shirvani's performance. About 90 percent of the 300 eligible voters cast ballots. Members include professors, coaches, librarians and academic administrators.

Employees have grown frustrated with what they call financial mismanagement and a continuing resistance to communicating with the public about how tax dollars are being spent, officials said.

Wedding dress for wedding site

After finding out your inner bride and having your modest wedding gowns in mind, another thing has to be considered: the formality of your ceremony and the features of the site. While every bride and groom should feel free to choose the wedding dress designers of their dreams, their attire should also reflect the time and place of their nuptials.
