pointafter_Searching for Edgar Delacruz

No one wants to believe that Edgar Delacruz drowned last week at Lake Don Pedro. No one. Not family, friends, casual fans of the MJC football team he kicked for the last two years or people who have only heard about his disappearance. Even those who have heard the basic details - that he disappeared from a houseboat where a lot of alcohol was found - and feel the logical course of events was that Edgar fell over, they would love to be proven wrong. No one wants to believe such a bright, good-looking young man is just gone.
The longer he goes missing, though, the worse it all gets. Where else would he be? And the unanswered questions lead to speculation and anger. How did this happen? There must be more to it, people think. Maybe it's because the Modesto area has been the scene of so many high-profile tragedies the last few years - our imaginations go to dark places and we brace ourselves for the worst.
It's tough having to wait for answers, especially when there's no guarantee we'll get any. I wish everyone could have some extra patience and faith during this time. Few people, if anyone but Edgar, know all the details. And yet The Bee comment section has been the landing place for some pretty ugly back-and-fourth. I am sure it would be so much more productive and helpful for Edgar's loved ones if we could all keep him in our thoughts and prayers (depending on your spiritual beliefs) and hope he's found soon. Maybe that's naive, but I think it's better than the alternative.

My heart goes out to the family

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in eternal peace.  My prayers are with the family.

MISSING......

At this point, I am at a loss for words, which NEVER happens to me.  This a nightmare that is continuing. As a Mother, I can't even begin to express how terrifying this is.  Edgar was my Son's friend.  My Son passed away 20 months ago, and my pain is ENDLESS.  It is with me everyday.  Although my Son didnt go missing, he is GONE nonetheless.  I KNOW how his family and friends are feeling.  I don't know Edgar's family, but I do know lots of his friends.  Modesto has never had such a FINE group of young people.  At this point my wish is that all the fiinger pointing STOP.  It is counterproductive.  Instead of wasting that energy, perhaps you can become involved...in any way.  Help search, ask what you can do to help, and most importantly PRAY for the outcome we are all hoping for; Edgar coming home.
